In order to visualize and easily describe the general area from which a player hits a shot during a tennis match, it’s useful to refer to five Tactical Positions on and around the court. Keep in mind, that a player can be in a “defensive” tactical situation in any tactical position.
The five “Tactical Positions” refers to the general positioning of a player who is about to make a shot.
That is, a “tactical position” describes where a ball is hit FROM (while a “target area” describes where a ball is hit TO).
